Denn hinter dem Sammelbegriff stehen verschiedene Arten von Kunststoffen. Biokunststoffe k\u00f6nnen sowohl biobasiert als auch biologisch abbaubar sein. Es k\u00f6nnen, m\u00fcssen aber nicht beide Eigenschaften gleichzeitig gegeben sein. Biokunststoffe, die biologisch abbaubar sind (<em>z. B. PHB, PLA, PBS, PBAT<\/em>), hinterlassen kein in der Umwelt verbleibendes Mikroplastik. Wichtig ist, dass die Kunststoffe nicht nur in industriellen Anlagen, sondern auch unter Umgebungsbedingungen abbaubar sind (mehr dazu <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biovox.systems\/2021\/08\/19\/wann-ist-kunststoff-biologisch-abbaubar\/\">hier<\/a>). Biokunststoffe, die zwar biobasiert aber nicht biologisch abbaubar sind (<em>z. B. Bio-PET, Bio-PE, Bio-PP<\/em>), zerfallen nur in immer kleinere St\u00fccke, eben Mikroplastikpartikel. Sie hinterlassen deshalb genau wie ihre fossilen Pendants Mikroplastik.
